ABOUT THE PROJECT

ABOUT THE PARTNERS

New technologies are an emerging industry creating employment opportunities and entrepreneurial possibilities. According to projections set out by the European Commission, market demands for qualified information and communications technology (ICT) specialists will not be met, seeing a shortfall of up to 500,000 ICT professionals in 2020. Virtual and augmented reality products are amongst those with some of the highest market demand in the ICT sector.

It is in this context that we will be launching the Jobs4tech project over the next two years, providing vocational training in the relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship with these technologies.

The general objective of JOBS4TECH is to align Vocational Training (VET) with the needs of the labour market in the new technologies sector, and specifically in virtual and augmented reality, to improve the employability of its students.

To achieve this goal, 8VET professors from the technological area and their students (approximately 120) will experience an integrated itinerary in the field of virtual and augmented reality, which will contemplate in a coordinated way both the teaching of technical skills and the necessary competencies for work as an employee or self in this sector.

This project is led by Acción contra el Hambre (Spain), and Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, as partner countries of the project.

WHAT WOULD BE ACHIEVING?

HERE YOU CAN ACCESS TO THE INTEGRATED ITINERARY

Existing vocational training programmes in all the project countries were assessed in terms of how they incorporate virtual and augmented reality technology and how they include training to develop employability and entrepreneurial skills into their courses. In addition to this, a skill set list for careers in this sector have been compiled for the project.

See the results of this study HERE.

On the basis of these findings, a integrated itinerary combining technical skills with skills for employment and entrepreneurship was created. This document guides teachers on how to introduce the teaching of these skills into the classroom in an integrated way. Teaching staff were trained prior to pilot it with the students.

A video was elaborated about this integrated itinerary in the following languages: English, Spanish, German, Estonian and Lithuanian.
